niti v0.1: Simplification
· 2 min read
I was trying to put too many things into my yoga bucket which was expanding and expanding and making things more and more confusing. I decided that my sadhana should be relatively small and focused completely on myself. By incorporating all of life into it, it was expanding to the point that it was hard to focus on what the outcome of the sadhana should be as well as what the rest of my life should be.
All life is yoga but it is better to treat each part of life like a microservice than to merge it all together into a confusing monolith. So I am dividing up my gigantic yoga practice into smaller services. The benefit of this is that I can apply the four niti to each with appropriate KPIs.
- Niti. Core principles on improvement based on W Edwards Deming. Focused on continuous improvement and reducing waste. Learn how to measure and improve systems. KPIs are tasks completed.
- Sadhana. My sadhana largely focused on Raja Yoga. The core metrics here are meditation time, weight lifted, and Hatha yoga time.
- Family. Improve all aspects of my family life including children, home and garden. Largely focus on cooking and gardening projects.
- Capital. Manage investments. KPIs include Net worth, debt, and ROIC.
- Ventures. Revenue, free cash flow, people employed, customers
- Community. Writing with a focus on reader growth as the primary objective.
