Misunderstanding Lean

I feel like I’ve misunderstood Lean all this time. The idea that something needs to have a core and then iterate to fill in the holes and then basically stop iterating and start scaling.

Steps:

  • Discover Customer Problem
  • Find Solution to Customer Problem
  • Scale

At some point there is an optimality where you cannot really modify the solution anymore. It works and it is a matter of repeating it. This is what I failed to understand.

At some point the iteration for your product needs to stop and you scale it. You can the introduce adjacent products once you scale your original product but iterating it should push you to a larger market or modify your existing problem for adjacent markets.

However, your Value Chain must be optimal and simplified.
