It is impossible to want to do one thing forever. People get burnt out and want to chase other things. But you can only do one thing at a time. You can say you want different brands, or have different unrelated tasks, but at the end of the day you can only be good at one of those brands, one of those tasks.
I’m doubling down on OpsZero. It is the one area that I want to spend the rest of my life working on. Making systems easier to use. This means everything we do is to make the core capabilities of what we do better which is systems.
To execute on this we will be reducing our focus to three things People Empowerment, Mutual Success, and Invest & Impact. The Core Capabilities is going away because OpsZero is now the core of the company. We are a pure play DevOps company.
What is the expected outcome of this?
Focus is a hard thing and it is easy to lose. So I am refocusing my energy on one thing. Everything else is somewhat secondary to this goal.
What does this mean? It means over the next year I will be exiting ventures I do not believe in. Those that I have no interest in up keeping and learning to build the best DevOps organization ever.
